DECATUR - Donald Lee "Donnie" Ater, 65, of Milam, Texas, formerly of Decatur, died Thursday (Nov. 27, 2003) in Methodist Healthcare System, Houston, Texas.
Services in Aterendash Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon. Burial in North Fork Cemetery, Long Creek.
Mr. Ater was born Dec. 14, 1937, in Macon, the son of Paul and Leota Waddell Ater. He worked construction as a heavy equipment operator and operated out of Local 965. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He married Virginia Dunn in 1967. She preceded him in death in 1993.
Surviving are his daughter, Diana Greenleaf and husband Roger of Brandon, Fla.; son, Timothy Ater and wife Cathy of Oakley; stepdaughter, Lynn Gilil of Greenup; brothers, Dean Ater and wife Lorraine of Decatur; Neal Ater and wife Jeannie of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; faithful dogs, Jake and Fred.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and grandson, Bobby Dunn.
