Memorial Services for Frances Untiedt Atchley, 60, of Lovington, New Mexico were held at the First United Methodist Church in Lovington, with the Rev. Tom Broom of First United Methodist Church and Bro. Harry Pittman of First Baptist Church officiating.
Following the memorial, a celebration of her life took place in the Fellowship Hall of the church. She was cremated under the direction of Smith Rogers Funeral Home of Lovington.
She died Friday, March 12, 1999.
She was born Oct. 18, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa. She married Darrell Atchely Sept. 19, 1959. She was a member of First United Methodist. She was instrumental in establishing Lovington Beautiful. She also was a New Mexico Beautiful Organization board member, a member of the Iris Garden Club and PEO. She was a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow. She was named Lovington Citizen of the Year in 1991. She and her husband served as exchange student sponsors.
Survivors include her husband; her daughter, Sara Atchley Wierman of Coppell; two grandsons, Dane Troy and Cole Bartlett; one sister, Helen Miner of Illinois; four nephews; and one niece.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Lea County, 901 E. Bender, Hobbs, or Habitat for Humanity, 121 Habitat St., Americus, Ga. 31709.
