Denny Carroll Atchley, 75, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at a local hospital.
He was born in McMinn County, but lived a majority of his life in Bradley County. He was a retired contractor from Bowater after 22 years of service. He was an avid NASCAR fan, a hard worker and enjoyed the simple life.
Mr. Atchley was the son of the late Authur T. Atchley and Ella Mae Burnett Atchley, and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Atchley, Billy Atchley, Johnny Atchley and Charles Atchley.
He is survived by his siblings, Joseph Atchley, Marjorie Collins and husband, Jerry, and Wanda Morgan, all of Cleveland, Barbara Suits and husband, Dennis, of Tullahoma, and Marshall Atchley and wife, Joanie, Jimmy Atchley and wife, Martha, and Neal Atchley and wife, Jodi, all of Sarasota, Fla.; best friend, Rick Martin of Cleveland; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.
A gathering of friends will be held on Friday, June 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
