Dwight "Pete" Astin, 58, of Carrollton, formerly of Cedartown, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born Dec. 7, 1945, son of the late Weyman Astin and Mayme Barrett Astin. Mr. Astin was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War. He was presently employed by Builders Station in Carrollton. He is survived by a daughter, Canada Connell of Armuchee; sister, Mary Collins of Anniston, Al., Fay Corley of Marietta and Shirley Mitchell of Pell City, Ala.; and brothers, Douglas Astin of Marietta and Dickey Astin of Cedartown. Graveside services were conducted Saturday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. in Polk Memory Gardens with Mr. Larry Astin Officiating. The Brewster-Cleveland American Legion Post #86 Honor Guard conducted full military rites. Serving as pallbearers were the following: Wes Astin, Tom Collins, Roger A. Miles, Jr., Ron Free, Jimmy Stewart and Jay Morrow. The Gammage Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
