Died: Tuesday, March 16, 2004

Roger Ashton, 81, Corydon, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.

A native of Laconia, born Dec. 7, 1922, he was the son of the late Claude A. and Zella E. Funk Ashton.

He was a graduate of Corydon High School, a retired employee of Thermogas, where he worked as a plant manager, a courier for Bank One and First Harrison Bank, and a member of Corydon Presbyterian Church. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2950 in Corydon and a Coast Guard veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Milton Ashton, and a sister, Eleanor Ashton Griffin.

Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Ashton; a stepson, Jim Sexton of Coatesville; a stepdaughter, Sue Schoerlucke of Sidney, Ohio; a sister, Harriet Miller of Corydon; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial service: Saturday, March 20, at Corydon Presbyterian Church.

Officiants: Pastors Scott Hill and Cheryl Thorne. Arrangements: Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society, Corydon Presbyterian Church or the YMCA of Harrison County YMCA.
