Annabelle Patricia Ashline
CHAMPLAIN — Annabelle Patricia Ashline, 89, of Champlain, passed away peacefully Friday, March 31, 2012, at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.
She was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Champlain, the daughter of the late Leander (Leon) and Ruth (Fifield) Trombley. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her loving husband of 66 years, Clifford Ashline Sr., who died Oct. 2, 2007.
Annabelle lived in Baltimore, Md., and Buffalo for a few years while Clifford worked fabricating planes during World War II. They returned to Champlain to be close to their families and to live in the area they loved most. Annabelle was accountant for Clifford's business. She was also a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Lily of the Mohawk in Champlain. She actively volunteered at various organizations including her church and her children's school, and as a Girl Scout Leader. She loved antiques, golf, playing piano, dancing and spending time with friends and family. She loved to entertain and do whatever she could to make others happy. Annabelle enjoyed traveling to Virginia and Florida, where she spent many winters.
She is survived by her two children, her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Lyle Patnode of Alexandria, Va., and her son and daughter-in-law, Clifford Jr. and Catherine of Rouses Point; and her grandchildren Sarah Patnode, Emily Patnode and Matthew Patnode, Mary Bleaux, Trish Parrott and Michael Ashline; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Survivors also include her sisters, Rita Roberts of Champlain, Ethel Harvey of North Tonawanda, N.Y., Doris Neale and husband Gary of Rouses Point, Pauline Roberts and husband Morris of Champlain, and her brother Donald Trombley of Medford, Oregon.
Besides her parents and husband, Annabelle is predeceased by her brothers, Orville Trombley and his wife, Noella; Hubert Trombley and his wife, Gertrude; her sisters, Dorothy Trombley, Helen Trombley, Mae Trombley, Bernice Barcomb and husbands Charles Gonyo and Roland Barcomb; and brothers-in-law Leon Roberts and Francis Harvey.
Annabelle's family would like to thank Dr. Brenda Phillips and the third-floor staff at Meadowbrook Healthcare for all the love, comfort and wonderful care they gave her.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at M.B. Clark Funeral Home in Champlain, N.Y.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at St. Mary's Church, 86 Church St., Champlan, N.Y., with the Rev. James Delbel, pastor, celebrating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery on Church Street.
Contributions in Annabelle's memory may be made to St. Mary's Church in Champlain.
