Last rites and burial for Mrs. J. R. Ashley, 81, who died Nov. 15 after a three-year illness, were held here November 16.
Mrs. Ashley’s survivors include Mrs. B. C. Combs, 905 Northeast 22nd Street, Grand Prairie, a daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Combs and a large number of other Grand Prairie residents attended the funeral at the First Methodist Church here with the Revs. Edwin Silliman of Sherman and J. W. Lewis of Sanger officiating. Burial was in Sanger Cemetery.
A Denton County resident for 40 years, Mrs. Ashley was born at old Red Oak, Texas, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Robert Bell. Mr. Bell was a native of Dublin, Ireland.
In 1896 she married Mr. Ashley, who is a survivor, at Rocket, Ellis County.
Besides her husband and Grand Prairie daughter, Mrs. Ashley is survived by three other daughters, three sons and a large number of other relatives.
