Rowena Adams Ashdown was called home by our Heavenly Father on October 26, 2009 surrounded by her family and sister, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Rowena was born August 10, 1943 in Cedar City, UT to JV and Pharol Slack Adams. She grew up in Cedar City and graduated from Cedar High School in 1961.

She married her high school sweetheart Craig Ashdown on January 12, 1963. They were later sealed in the St. George temple. They were blessed with 4 children Yvette (Joe) VanDenBerghe, Tera Ashdown, Heather (Mike) Roundy, and Cole Ashdown.

Rowena was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in numerous callings and leadership positions including Relief Society President, Stake Relief Society President, Young Womens President and many others. She was currently serving as Secretary in the Young Womens Presidency and as an ordinance worker with her husband in the St. George Temple. Rowena enjoyed spending time with her family vacationing, boating, camping, etc ... She worked many years as a manager of Associates Finance Co. She then decided to quit working and stay home to raise her children. Later in life she then returned to work as a Secretary at South Elementary. She enjoyed the children and the wonderful people she worked with. She had to quit due to her declining health. Rowena had many friends. Every person that knew her loved her and her beautiful smile. She made everyone feel special when she was around.

Rowena is survived by her husband Craig, her 3 children Yvette, Heather, and Cole. Her 3 brothers, Larry (Colleen) Adams, Jay (Susan) Adams, Kent (Bonnie) Adams, her sister Maureen (Jesse) Robb, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and another one soon.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Tera, her parents, and her mother and father-in-law Leonard and Thelma Ashdown. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Cedar West Stake Center located 725 South 1100 West in Cedar City, UT. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery.
