Services were held Monday for James M. Ashcroft, 82, who passed away May 4 at his residence at 406 Forest Ridge Drive. Rev. Everett Boyce officiated at services in the chapel of the Kerrville Funeral Home and interment followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. He was born Dec. 19, 1902 in Comanche, Okla. He spent many years of his life in Stamford, where he was an active businessman in ranching and insurance. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Izora Ashcroft of Kerrville; daughter, Mrs. Nancy Denton of Houston; brother, L.A. Ashcroft of McAllen, Robert G. Ashcroft of Weatherford; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Van Hoosier of Weatherford and Mrs. Van Wheat of Pharr; and one grandson.
