Mildred Irene Haffner was the daughter of Frank F. and Olive Mildred (Carmen) Haffner. She was first married to Joseph David Davenport on August 20, 1932, at Lebanon, IN. They were the parents of a son, Joseph Franklin Davenport. They divorced. She was then married to William Ashby; they also divorced.

Mildred Irene Haffner Ashby, 71, of rural Lafayette, died at 3:32 AM Friday [May 30, 1986] in Lafayette Home Hospital, where she had been a patient two weeks and in failing health two years. Born May 19, 1915, in Lafayette, she was a life resident of the area. Mrs. Ashby was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and VFW Auxiliary. Surviving are one son, Joseph F. Davenport; one sister, Maxine (Mrs. Harold) Holdman, both of Lafayette; two grandsons and four great-grandsons.
