TYNER - Jennie Hollowell Asbell, 92, of Route 1, died Tuesday, April 19, 1994, in the Chowan Hospital Skilled Care Facility.
A native of Chowan County, Mrs. Asbell was a daughter of the late Baker M. and Annie Byrum Hollowell. She was the wife of the late Charles Edna Asbell. She was a member of the Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church, where she was the organist and pianist for 52 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Edna Earle Jones of Virginia Beach; her son, Carlton E. Asbell of Tyner; two sisters, Mary Evans of Edenton and Minnie Bateman of Elizabeth City; three grandchildren, Carolyn Asbell Owens of Edenton, Thomas C. Asbell and Amy Asbell, both of Tyner; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Laura Asbell, Orene Hollowell and Lena Asbell and four brothers, Bertram Hollowell, Weldon Hollowell, Baker Hollowell and Tommy Hollowell.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Randy Greene and the Rev. Lamar Sentell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Williford-Barham Funeral Home, Edenton, is handling arrangements.
