The death of Benjamin Artist of Monroe township, for many years a well-known farmer of the vicinity northwest of Winamac, occurred Saturday afternoon after an illness of over five months from dropsy and complications. He had been in serious condition for several weeks following a stroke of apoplexy.
Mr. Artist was seventy-five years old last November 7 and had spent most of his life in this locality. He is survived by his wife and six children. The latter are Zenal of Knox, Mrs. Mamie Young of Marion, Charles and Mrs. May Enyeart, west of Winamac, and William and Grace at hone.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at Bethel Friends church in Jefferson township and burial was given in the Idle cemetery.
