Lester V. Arter, 79, Mummert Drive, Littlestown, died Sunday evening at his home.
He was born in Carroll County, Md., and was the son of the late Alva and Lillie Markle Arter.
His wife, Alice Warehime Arter, died Dec. 26, 1975.
He and his wife resided in the Cleveland, Ohio area from 1938-1975. He had retired from White Motors in Cleveland, Ohio, and more recently had worked part time at Baughers Fruit Stand near Westminster, Md.
He was a member of the Missouri Lutheran Church, Cleveland, Ohio, and the Littlestown V F W and F.O.E.
He is survived by a brother, Carroll E. Arter, Littlestown, two sisters,Carrie V. Hoff, Littlestown and Catherine A. Mayers, Bretheran Home, New Oxford, and a number of neices and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Littles' Funeral Home in Littlestown with the Rev. Robert C. Camac, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Littlestown officiating. Interment will be in Krider's Church Cemetery.
