Stephen G. ARTER, 67, 5020 Southwood Ave., Fort Wayne, died at 1:47 a.m. Saturday at Kosciusko Community Hospital emergency room, Warsaw, while attending his 50-year Akron High School reunion in Warsaw.
Born in Indianapolis to Earl and Lena GERRARD ARTER, he married Dixie A. MYERS Feb. 24, 1957, in Akron. She survives.
Mr. Arter was a hospital pharmacist, retiring from Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne. He graduated from Akron High School in 1953 and Purdue University in 1957. He was a member of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne, and was active in missions. He was an officer in the National Hospice and was a community surveyor for CHAPS.
Surviving with his wife, at home, are one daughter, Peggy GOOD and husband Charles, Fowler; one son, Paul [ARTER] and wife Natalia, Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and one brother, David ]ARTER] and wife Susan Barrett, Indianapolis.
Preceding in death were his parents and one grandchild.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E. Wayne St., Fort Wayne, with Bishop Woodie WHITE and Revs. Greg EASTROM and Harold L. LEININGER officiating. Burial will be at Akron Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services, all at the church. Memorials may be made to Parkview Memorial Hospital Hospice. Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, is in charge of arrangements.
