After a protracted battle with Gulf War Illness, Andrew John Arseneau died on September 12, 2014 at Loyola University Medical Center at the age of 46.

He leaves behind his wife, Nicoele Schneider Arseneau, son and daughter, Andrew Michael Arseneau, 15 and Margaret Eileen, 14 of Manteno.

Andy was born on February 25, 1968 at St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee, IL to Jerome H. and Nancy K. (Shrontz) Arseneau. Upon graduating from BBCHS in 1986, Andy joined the U.S. Army spending three years in Germany with the 2nd Armored Division. He was honorably discharged in 1990 and recalled in January 1991 to serve six months in Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.

He married the love of his life, Nicoele Wynn (Schneider) Nov. 26, 1994 at Wilton Center, IL, settled in Manteno and welcomed their two children.

Andy was a master story-teller, had a great sense of humor, was an extreme do-it-yourselfer, enjoyed hot rods, and loved spending time fishing with his children. He worked in the maintenance department at Armstrong World Industries for 15 years.

In 2009 he was diagnosed with the lung illness that would ultimately take his life. Even in his last months, he fought bravely to stay with the young family he so loved.

Surviving are his wife and children, his parents and their spouses; Jerome (Vicky) Arseneau of Manteno, Nancy (Stanton) Dotson of Mattoon, IL; his brothers, Timothy (Maria) Arseneau of Bourbonnais, Michael (Maria Victoria) Arseneau of Des Plaines; Jerome 'Jerry' (Carrie) Arseneau of Manteno; mother-in-law, Sandy Schneider of Bourbonnais; his brother-in-law James (Danielle) Schneider of Salt Lake City, UT; nephews Jacob, Christopher; nieces, Kennedy, Sophia, and Gabriella; as well as uncles, aunts, and numerous cousins.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Eileen Shrontz of Kankakee and paternal grandparents, Willard and Hattie Arseneau of Bourbonnais.

There will be a memorial visitation from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Wilton Center, IL. A memorial mass to celebrate Andy's life will be at 11:30 a.m. at the church.

Immediately following, his ashes will be interred at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full military honors.

The family would like to thank Andy's care givers at Presence St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee, IL, Edward Hines VA Hospital, Hines, IL, Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, IL and the Fisher House at Hines VA Hospital as well as family members, friends and neighbors for their care and support during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name for his children's education.
