GASTONIA - Rachel Lee Hendrick Arrowood, 82, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 22, 2009, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Arvel Hendrick and Virginia Frye Hendrick and wife of the late Richard E. Arrowood.
She was a long-time and active member of Lowell Smyre United Methodist Church and remained faithful to her time of morning devotion. She was a loving mother figure to many of her family, an avid reader and was always on the go with lots of energy.
Rachel is survived by her sister, Carolyn Lowery of Gastonia, her brother, Dan Hendrick and his wife, Mary of Lake City, FL, nieces, Suzanne Lowery Palmer of Cherryville, Deborah Lowery of Grand Canyon, AZ, Monica Lowery Oliver of Gastonia, as well as several great nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors, Gastonia. The Rev. Cherlue Vang will officiate.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Interment will be private at Gaston Memorial Park.
