|Birth: ||Sep. 25, 1869|
|Death: ||Jul. 14, 1934|
Son of Detlef Heinrich Arp and Maria Christina Arens Arp.
Death came suddenly and unexpectedly to Adolph Arp of the Newcomer community Saturday, July 14th. Mr. Arp had spent the afternoon fishing and toward evening had gone to the field to bring in the cows. His wife, hearing an unusual noise went out and found him in the road on the way back to the barn. He was dead when she found him.
He was aged 64 years, 9 months and 19 days.
Adolph Arp was born September 25, 1869 at Davenport, Iowa, and came with his parents to this County at the age of two years. They settled in the Newcomer community where Adolph grew to young manhood. December 21, 1898 he was married to Miss Bertha Tietjens, who survives him. This union was blessed with three children, all boys, and all residing in the home neighborhood. They are Henry, Walter, and Herbert. There are also five grandchildren and one brother, William, surviving.
Mr. Arp united with the Lutheran Church at Brunswick under the preaching of Rev. Abel. He was a good man; honest, a good neighvor, and of good repute among all who knew him. To him family came first and he found his greatest pleasure in the friendly atmosphere of his own home. Many friends will grieve in the passing of this fine citizen, but the loss of the family is great indeed.
Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m., Rev. W. J. Boehne of the Lutheran Church being in charge of the services. Burial was in the German cemetery near Indian Grove.
