ARNQUIST, DAVID / ANNA WALLMARK

b. 21 Sep. 1850 in Sweden, d. 3 Dec. 1941 of lobar pneumonia and old age in Mpls. Wife Anna Lovisa Wallmark b. 3 Mar. 1859, m. 20 Oct. 1877, d. 23 July 1941 after breaking her hip in Minneapolis. They had moved from Chisago County to Minneapolis in later years.

David and Anna were married through the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church. He was in business with his father-in-law Otto Wallmark in Chisago City for a number of years. The 1895 Minnesota census states that David had been in Minnesota 25 years and in Chisago Lake Township 19 years.

In the 1885 MN state census, David was 34 in family unit 68 of Chisago Lake Twp. and Anna Louise was 26. Children in the household at that time were Arvid B. 6, Esther M. 3, and John A. Peterson, age 18. The 1895 census tells us that David's name in Sweden was Svensson. Two other children, Carl6, and Myrtle, 2 months, were added by the time of the 1895 census.

According to relative Laurie Keller of England, the children were as follows: Arvid Bernhard, b. 16 June 1878, d. 3 Feb. 1897; Esther Maria, b. 15 July 1882, single; Carl Daniel Theodore b. 20 June 1885, d. 6 July 1885; Carl Nathaniel, b. 6 Aug. 1888, d. Jan. 1966 in Winter Park, FL; Martin Reuben, b. 26 Apr. 1891, d. 20 Jan. 1892; Ruth Myrtle Louise, b. 5 Apr. 1895.

Carl Nathaniel, Martin Reuben, and Carl Daniel were all buried in West Green Lake Cemetery, Chisago County, MN. There was apparently another Carl Daniel Theodore, who died in 1885 and was also buried in the same cemetery.

From the Chisago County Press of 29 Nov. 1894: "Miss Amanda Swenson, whose parents live about two miles west of this place (Lindstrom ?) was taken to Fergus Falls on account of insanity. She is a niece of Mr. Arnquist of Chisago City."

Note by Author, Earl W Leaf: I could not find any of the Arnquist family under that name in any of the census records available after 1900. We know that David and Anna were living in Minneapolis in 1941 when they both died.

Note by CCHS: It appears there was a change in the given name from David to Daniel sometime in the early 1900s. The name Daniel S Arnquist is found in later census records, contrary to the note above.
