Birth: Sep. 27, 1847
New York, USA
Death: Aug. 14, 1916, USA

Dennis Arnould was a confectioner whose family came from Belgium via Canada. He had a small confectionery on Wooster St in Manhattan when F.W.Woolworth came calling in 1886. F.W. had virtually despaired of finding a candy manufacturer who could sell him candy at a price at which he could then sell it at five cents a quarter pound. All
others had rebuffed him. Denis came up with several varieties and made it possible for Woolworth to launch one
of the most sucessful lines ever and prove that manufacturers could make more money dealing directly with the stores (eliminating the middleman - a new concept in merchandising). Soon Arnould's little shop became a great
factory and store on Canal Street.
Younger brother of Joseph Arnould
Married Pauline Kreeb 16/10/1869. Had three daughters
Emily, Amelia & Pauline.
Died aged 68 in 1916.
