Charles Arnold was the first city auditor of Cranston and father of Rep. Fres. S. Arnold (R-Cranston).

Born in Crompton, June 29, 1867. He was educated in Warwick and Cranston Pulbic schools and Bryant College.

He became the first city auditor in 1921 and served until 1948 when he retired.

He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Sadie Pierce Arnold; son Rep. Fred S. Arnold; daughter, Mrs. Bertha E. Seed.; brother William P. Arnold of Abilene, TX and sister, Mrs. Fannie Bemis of Foster Center.
