Ida was born to Ida Towne Arnold and Fred Arnold on January 12, 1917 in Hookset, NH. She was married to the late Lloyd I. Toye who predeceased her in 2003.
Ida is survived by her nine children, Calvin O. Toye and his wife Lorraine of College Place, WA, Roberta Toye Jordan of West Yarmouth, MA, Marvin A. Toye and his wife, Karen, of Braintree, MA, Ralph B. Toye and his wife, Corally, of Braintree, MA, Laraine Toye Magee and her husband, Paul, of Braintree, MA, Nelson E. Toye and his wife, DeSales, of Falls Church, VA, Gary I. Toye and his wife, Sarah, of Unity, NH, Wayne E. Toye and his wife, Joan, of Franklin, MA and Lance I. Toye and his wife, Kathy, of Chester, VT.
Ida's son Lloyd Toye, Jr. died in infancy. Ida is also survived by over 20 grandchildren, over 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Recently over 50 members of the Toye family gathered to celebrate Thanksgiving together.
Ida lived for many years in Braintree, MA raising her family, and working part-time behind the counter at Ken's Donut Shop and Dunkin Donuts in Weymouth Landing. Ida and Lloyd retired to Perkinsville, VT in the late 1970s where they enjoyed working their land in Vermont's Green Mountains.
Ida attended the First Baptist Church in Chester, VT. Ida was a loving woman who enjoyed gathering her family together for cookouts and holiday reunions; she is also remembered for her fine dancing at recent family weddings.
Visiting Hours are on Dec. 10 at the Adams Funeral Home, Chester, VT, from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by a 2:30 p.m. service at the First Baptist Church, Main Street, Chester. In addition, visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 11 at the Peck Funeral Home in Braintree, MA from 6 to 8 p.m.
A brief graveside service will be held Thursday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
