Earl E. Arnold, 79, 437 South First St., a retired farmer, died at 6:40 p.m. Thursday at the Decatur Community Care Center, following an extended illness. Mrs. (sic) Arnold was a member of the St. Luke's United Church of Christ.
Born in Kirkland Township on February 4, 1897, he was the son of Albert and Caroline Kruetzman-Arnold, and was united in marriage in 1916 to Gladys P. Kline. She preceded him in death on September 11, 1973.
Survivors include four children, Mrs. David (Violet) Smith, Decatur; Dwight R. Arnold, Port Charlotte, Fla.; Carol (sic) E. Arnold, Fort Wayne; Von D. Arnold, route 4, Bluffton; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Winteregg-Linn & Haggard Funeral Home, with Rev. Kent J. Ulery officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m.
