Harry I. Arnold, 61, of 127 Elm St. Athens died Wednesday, May 13, 1987, as a result of an airplane accident. Born in Litchfield, March 29, 1926, the son of Harry C. and Cora Brenchley Arnold. He was a lifelong resident of the valley area.
He was the owner and chairman of the board of the Heritage Nursing Home in Athens, chairman of the board of the Solid Waste Industries, Inc., and was employed for 22 years by IBM Owego. He was a member of the Waverly Masons, the Sayre-Athens Lions Club, the Sayre Elks #1148, the Valley Kiawanis (charter president), a social member of the Catholic War Vets, former member of the Athens-Sayre Joint Sewer Authority, Athens Borough Council and Quinlantown Hunting Club.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Arnold, at home; one daughter and son-in-law, James and Mary Pruyne of Athens and one son and daughter-in-law, David and Gail Arnold, of Glens Falls, N.Y.; four grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs LeLand (Hetty) Rinker of Rome, Mrs. Leonard (Doris) Cole of Ulster; Mrs. William (Alice) Belles of Avon Park, Fla., Mrs. Oscar (Mae) French of Athens RD 2; five brothers, Clyde Arnold of Horseheads, Lloyd Arnold of Ulster, Willis Arnold of Athens RD 2, Wallace Arnold of Sayre RD 1, Robert Arnold of Rome; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Jenkins Funeral Home, 111 South Main St., Athens, from 2-4 and &-9 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens. Memorials may be directed tot he Resident's council of the Heritage Nursing Home Athens, or the Tioga Point Musuem, Athens.
