ARNOLD, BILLIE BENNINGTON - Age 90 of Knoxville, TN, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 13, 2012. She was born in Grayson County, Va. on November 29, 1921, the daughter of the late Cebert Clay Bennington and Anna Taylor Bennington. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Gene Arnold; sister, Ella Thompson; brother, Ralph Bennington; son, Sidney Arnold and grandson Brian Fernandes. Billie was a member of the New Hope Presbyterian Church. She was a long-time administrative assistant in the Music Department at the University of Tennessee until her retirement. She was a generous and caring woman of faith who loved her family and friends. She enjoyed needlepoint, growing flowers, crossword puzzles, wildlife and watching Little House on the Prairie. Survived by sister-in-law, Rosemarie Bennington of Indialantic, FL; daughters: Bette Arnold of Knoxville, Melissa Hale and husband Steve, of Heiskell, TN; son: Joel Arnold and wife Deborah, of Seymour, TN; granddaughters: Stephanie Cline and husband Teddy of Heiskell, TN, and Jessica Smith of Hixson, TN; grandsons Charlie Fernandes of Augusta, GA, and Nathan Hale of Heiskell, TN. great grandchildren: Eli Cline, Ivy Cline, Savannah Fernandes, Mason Fernandes, and Jackson Smith; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to thank the staff at UT Medical Center, Trauma ICU for caring for her during her hospital stay. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 1705 Merchants Drive, Knoxville, TN. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Presbyterian Church with Rev. Brad Palmer officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery (Sutherland Avenue) in Knoxville. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
