Mrs. Ada Gant
Mrs. Ada Gant, age 87 of Whitney, died Monday night, June 8 at the Lake Whitney Memorial Hospital. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 11 at the Marshall and Marshall Chapel in Whitney, Rev. Allan Lane and Rev. Robert W. Owens officiating, burial in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
Mrs. Gant was born July 10, 1899 near Alto, Texas the daughter of Andrew Walter and Theodosia Nancy Turner Arnold. She had lived in the Whitney area since 1905. She married Joseph Alfred (Jack) Gant July 15, 1916 and he died February 5, 1970. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Nell Gant in 1933 and a son, Dutch Gant in 1977. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Whitney.
Survived by one son, Walter Newt Gant of Aiken, three daughters, Freda Alma Popejoy and Mary Catherine Foreman, both of Lubbock, and Cleta Fern Hill of Aqyilla.
One brother, Gordon Arnold of Dublin, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. A daughter-in-law, Faye Gant of Blum.
