David H. Arno, 87 of Southlake, TX passed away on February 1, 2011. He was born March 6, 1923 in San Antonio, TX to Henry and Rosa (Cook) Arno. David was a Career Air Force Officer and a decorated WWII fighter pilot who was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. After WWII he married Peggy Louise Scoggin on January 7, 1945 in Enid, OK. She preceded him in death in 2002 after 57 years of marriage. He retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Col. in 1970. Following his retirement from the Air Force he attended North Texas State University where he graduated with honors in 1973. After college he worked at the Institute of Behavioral Research at TCU. He was a past President of the Denton Hi-Noon Lions Club, former Chairman of the Denton Airport Board, former Chairman of the Board of Asbury United Methodist Church, and a former Vice-Chairman of the Denton Republican Party.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 11am at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Denton. Burial will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 2pm at the Mission Park South Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.

Survivors include sons, William Arno and wife Kathy of Austin, TX, David K. Arno and wife Leslie of Coppell, TX, Fredrick Arno and wife Linda of Keller, TX; seven grandchildren, one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Peggy; granddaughter Stephanie; and sister, Ruth Gurgiolo.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society of America.
