Elwood L. Arneson

Elwood L. Arneson of Bellevue died Feb. 24, 2002, in Seattle. He was 86.

Mr. Arneson was born April 17, 1915, in Redmond, graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle in 1934, and from the University of Washington in 1937. He was the owner and operator of Evergreen Trailways Inc., a tour bus business.

Mr. Arneson was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and was active with the Boy Scouts of America for 75 years.

He was an Eagle Scout, awarded the Silver Beaver, served as a counselor at the Boy Scout's Camp Parsons and served on the Chief Seattle Board of the Boy Scouts and also served on ``The Challenger'' with the Sea Scouts.

Mr. Arneson was a member of the Puget Sound Maritime Historical Society and Swedish Cultural Center.At the University of Washington he was on the Frosh Crew and played drums in the Husky Band that went to the Rose Bowl in 1937.Devoted to his family, he especially enjoyed his business and the Huskies.

Married to his first wife, Joan Ellsworth Arneson, for 50 years, he is survived by his wife Barbara Dorsey Arneson of Bellevue; sons Edward Arneson and Thomas Arneson, both of Seattle; stepson Robert Chesterman of Bellevue; daughter Barbara Wakefield of Seattle; stepdaughters Lucy Brooks of Bellevue, Amy Chirillo of Renton and Polly Chesterman of Lacey; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Acacia Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 14951 Bothell Way N.E., Seattle.

Remembrances may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or a charity of the donor's choice.
