Alvina moved to Minneapolis in 1934 and worked at Lyon Fish Company. She married David I. Arneson on August 10, 1946. They moved to Yankton, South Dakota where they operated a bakery until they moved back to Minneapolis about 1950 and bought Lyon Fish Company, which they owned until retirement.
Alvina was a member of Wooddale Lutheran Church, Golden Valley Country Club in Minneapolis and Mountain Shadows Country Club in Phoenix. She especially enjoyed her family, friends, and spending winters in Arizona and traveling with her husband, David, on business trips. Her hobbies included golfing, bird watching, gardening and most sports.
