Wilmena Magdalene Arndorfer was born September 9, 1917 at St. Benedict, Iowa to John and Victoria (Studer) Arend. Wilma was schooled at St. Benedict School and on April 2, 1940, was united in marriage to Clarence "Bud" Arndorfer at St. Benedict. The couple lived east of St. Benedict and in 1946 purchased a farm west of St. Benedict, living there until 1983 when they retired and moved into Algona. Wilma became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society ~ Algona in February 2012 and died there Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the age of 96.

Wilma was a farm wife and a good "teacher of life" for her children. She leaves behind a legacy rich in family values and faith. Wilma enjoyed gardening, playing cards, working with crafts, sewing and doing embroidery work. She belonged to many organizations including Young Ladies Society, charter member of the St. Benedict C.D. of A., St. Benedict Guild, Hospital Auxiliary and adult choir, of which she held many officer positions. For many years she was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children, Wayne and wife Shirley of Algona, IA; Mary Janice Hayungs and husband Roger of Rolfe, IA; Connie Zodrow and husband Mike of Greendale, WI; Kenneth and wife Dale of Algona, IA; Carolyn Braley of Little Chute , WI; Joyce Hill and husband Max of Austin, TX; Rachael Travis and husband Jeff of Redding, CA; and LuAnn Espinoza and husband Frank of Castle Rock, CO. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, sister Norine Erpelding of Oelwein, IA and Helen DeFrance of Plano, TX. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, husband Bud, sons Randall, Charles and Timothy, brothers Edward, Roman and James and sisters Estella, Louise, Rita, Rosemary and RuthAnn.
