James Eugene Armstrong Sr., 65, of Gracey-Herndon Road died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Jennie Stuart Medical Center Emergency Room of an apparent heart attack.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with burial in Riverside Cemetery.

A native of Mannington, he was born Sept. 6, 1921, the son of the late Charlie and Josephine Harris Armstrong. He retired after 15 years as a truck driver for the City of Hopkinsville. He was a veteran of the Army in World War II and was a member of the American Legion. He worked part-time at Veterans Security Service.

His wife, Lily May Armstrong, died in 1984, and a son, Samuel
Armstrong, died in 1963.

Survivors include four sons, Jack and William "Billy," both of Christian County. Clarence Wayne "Frog" of Hopkinsville and James "Butch" Armstrong Jr. of Cadiz; three daughters, Sharon Austin, Christian County, and Sandra Jennings and Josephine Smith, both of Hopkinsville; two brothers, Elbert Yarbrough and Stevie Armstrong, both of Christian County; and 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren
