MACON -Sue Armstrong Adams, 78, died peacefully Wednesday, February 2, 2011 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Adams will be laid to rest on Saturday, February 5, 2011 with a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Rev. Greg Kirk and Rev. Raymond Burrell will officiate.
Mrs. Adams, a lifelong resident of Macon, who attended Miller High School, was retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base where she worked for 20 years. At Robins, she met Elton Adams and, after a whirlwind six-week courtship, they were married. They spent the next 54 years together as man and wife. Already blessed with a son, after nine years of marriage, Mrs. Adams was blessed with a baby girl, and their family was complete. Mrs. Adams was the daughter of the late Jesse W. and Myrtle Frances Smallwood Armstrong.
After retirement, Mrs. Adams enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to the Western United States, and sent postcards to her family from every destination. She loved to pamper her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her favorite dog, Toby, a Yorkshire Terrier.
Mrs. Adams' love of the Georgia Bulldogs and her English Bulldog, Benji, were only rivaled by her love for the music of Conway Twitty. She will be remembered for cooking family meals and for her fierce competitive streak during family games of Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit and Pinochle.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband, Elton Adams of Macon; son, Michael Ross (Terri) of Snellville; daughter, Cheryl Adams of Macon; three grandchildren, Jennifer Ross, Rachel Krause and Chloe Huval; three great-grandchildren.
