Celebration of Life services for Emma R. Armstrong, 91, of Slaton, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Dr. Ken Horn officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Monday, August 3, 2009 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Emma passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009 in Carlsbad, N.M.

Emma Retta James was born July 3, 1918 in Vernon to the late Alfred and Ethel James. She married Howard Armstong, December 13, 1937 in Lubbock.

Emma was a member of Westview Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; daughter, Betty Wilcox; and a sister. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Kenneth Armstrong of Kingsville, Monte Armstrong of D'lberville, Miss.; daughters, Sue Barns of Claremore, Okla., Nancy Enloe of Carlsbad, N.M.; four sisters, five brothers, 10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
