Graveside services for Carl Armstrong, 86, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Jim Brown officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock.

He died Friday, April 26, 2002.

He was born Dec. 30, 1915, in Erath County. He graduated from Bluff Dale High School and attended Tarleton State University. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

He married Arlene Powell on Oct. 30, 1937, in Stanton. She died June 8, 2001. He owned and operated Armstrong's Exxon in Lubbock from 1963 to 1978. He had been a resident of Lubbock since 1960 and had been a member of Monterey Baptist Church since 1963.

Survivors include a son, Danny of Dallas; a brother, Raymond of North Richland Hills; and two grandchildren.
