Francis C. Armstrong passed away on September 12, 1970. He was living at 509 47th Street in Union City, NJ. His wife, Catherine (nee Witheridge) survived him, passing on March 21, 1974.

Frank was a locomotive engineer with the New York Central railroad, working out of Weehawken and North Bergen, NJ on the River Division, also known as the West Shore. He ran both steam and diesel engines on freight and passenger trains, successfully making the transition between old and new technologies.

Frank and Catherine were the parents of Eleanor Armstrong McKenna and the late Francis Henry Armstrong. They also had three grandchildren and Frank was also the brother of Henry G. Armstrong. He was a member of the Mystic Lodge Number 123 Free and Accepted Masons and the Elks Lodge Number 1357, both of Union City, NJ. He also served as union official of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Frank was interred in the Grove Church Cemetery, North Bergen, NJ on September 16, 1970.
