Obituary published 19 Aug 2009 in "The Paris News", Paris, TX:

Robert W. "Bob" Armstrong, 71, of Paris went to meet his heavenly father Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, after a very long illness. He went peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, as he had requested.

Services are set for 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Fry-Gibbs funeral home with Reverand John Brown of Ramsuer Baptist church along with Assistant Pastor Don Martin officiating. Graveside services are to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery.

The family receives friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.

He was born in Paris, Feb. 9, 1938, to Artie and Eula Mae Armstrong. He spent all 71 years of his life in Paris. He loved Paris and could not have imagined calling anyplace else his home. He was a retired supervisor from the Campbell Soup Company and also spent 17 years in the National Guard, with two years active duty. He spent many happy years coaching his son's baseball team, that being one of the happiest times in his life. He truly enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, He loved traveling with his wife, Sue, and his family to places like Branson, Eureka Springs, Nashville and to the Galveston beaches. Spending time on his frontporch with a good cup of coffee, making a trip down to the local coffee shop visiting with friends, a good country music show, or telling one of his "Tall Tales" were just a few of Bob's favorite things to do. He was a member of the Ramsuer Baptist Church for 71 years and during that time he made many, many life long friends.

He will be remembered for the very, very special man that he was. His kindness, his gentleness, his genorsity, his positive outlook on life and his incredible ability to "cut-up," creating laughter for all that crossed his path, were just a few of his most admirable qualities. He was a very simple man who lived a very simple life. He truly needed nothing more from this life than the love of his family, hearing their laughter, seeing them smile, the times he spent with his friends and a good ole country music song. He placed his faith in God, kept a positive attitude in all that he did and he leaves behind a legacy that will live on in our hearts forever of a man who is to be greatly admired for creating a life that made a very profound statement: "Enjoy the simplicity of life." He was truly loved by many and he will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Artie and Eula Mae Armstrong; and his beloved son, Michael W. Armstrong.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Sue Tindell Armstrong of Paris; two brothers, Jack and David Armstrong; two daughters, Vickie Jones of Royse City and Paula Hebert of Paris; five grandchildren, Eric, Jason, Ashley, Jamie and Brittney; one great-grandson, Kyler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Eric Peel, Jason Jones, Donald Yeo, Richard Peel, Brian Lancaster and Travis Smith.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Marcus Armstrong.
