Freddie Joan Armstrong Goetz Goodpasture, 89, died March 12. Mrs. Goodpasture was born Aug. 17, 1918, in Hood County, Texas. She was a life-long member of the church of Christ, including Nashville's Hillsboro and Granny White congregations. She was retired president of First Southern Savings and Loan. To celebrate her 80th birthday, she authored a book titled From Neri to Nashville about her family's history and her life. She was preceded in death by husbands, Fremont Goetz, Sikeston, Mo., and B.C. Goodpasture; parents, Mark and Cordia Sue Armstrong; three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Mandy Goetz Myers and Marky Goetz Goodpasture Pace; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, B.C. Goodpasture, was a longtime editor of the Gospel Advocate. A celebration of life service was held on March 15 with Marlin Connelly officiating. She was the daughter of Marcus DeLafayette "Mark" Armstrong and Corda Pearl Sue. Her first husband, John Charles Fremont Goetz, died on July 15, 1961, in Sikeston, MO.
