Sofia C. Armijo, age 95, a lifetime resident of Valencia, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2002. Sofia was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and Alter Society of Valencia. Sofia was a teacher of catechism in Valencia for many years. Sofia was a walking Saint as she filled her many years with taking care of her parents, nieces, nephews, brothers, and always made time for any extended family member. Sofia was preceded in death by her parents, Eduardo Armijo in 1930 and Juanita Garley Armijo in 1963, her brothers, Prospero, Ernest, Arthuro, Carlos; George; Alberto, her sisters, Maria Otero and Louisa Maes. Sofia is survived by her loving sister, Angela Swain of the family home in Valencia, eight nephews and seven nieces. She is also survived by many great-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All services will take place at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church in Valencia. A viewing will be held on Friday, October 18, 2002 at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary following at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 19, 2002 at 1:00 p.m., with Father Ben officiating and interment following at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Peralta Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leon Otero, Joe Otero, Eduardo Otero, Mark Otero, Phillip Armijo and Florian Maes.
