ARMIJO -- Albert Armijo, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and member of a prominent pioneer family dating back to the 1700s, passed away on July 10, 2006. He was 80 years old. Albert was a passionate political activist whose presence was felt in the Democratic Party from the ward level to the state level for many years. He honorably and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving in the South Pacific. As a young man, he became active in the union movement and was a member of the Boilermakers International Union. He was involved in many successful negotiations and positive changes. Albert was preceded in death by his mother and father, Amalia and Nestor Armijo.
Survived by his wife of 58 years, Eppie; daughter, Kathy Kloeppel and son-in-law, Ken Kloeppel; and granddaughter, Jenna Kloeppel. He is also survived by his three sisters, Bonnie Griego and husband, Fred, Mable Baca and husband, Ray, and Sarah Chavez. Also, brothers-in-law, Bill Bachicha and wife, Rose, Tomas Bachicha and wife, Betty, Joseph Bachicha and wife, Clara, Dr. Robert Bachicha and wife, Maria; and sister-in-law, Anna Bachicha Reynolds and husband, Anthony.
Saturday, July 14, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper St. NW. at 10:00 a.m. with Bill Bachicha, Thomas Bachicha, Joseph Bachicha, Dr. Robert Bachicha, Anthony Reynolds, John Silva, and Chris Silva serving as pallbearers. Fred Griego, Ray Baca, and Kenneth Kloeppel will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
