Funeral services were held Wednesday at Hawkins Chapel for Chester Cheves Armes, 78, who died July 16 at Bridgeport Hospital. Rev. Hubert Ray officiated. Burial was in East Bridgeport Cemetery.

Mr. Armes was born October 1, 1905, in Boonsville. He married Vera Beatrice Jennings January 20, 1924 in Westbrook, Texas. He was a widower, and had lived in Bridgeport for 40 years.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Wolff, David Garrison, Mike Scroggins, Fred Meyers, George Walker, and Eddie Lamm.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Cheves of Bridgeport; a son, Jim Armes, Decatur; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
