Samuel H. Armes was the son of Dr. William Armes and second wife Mary E. Sands. His paternal grandparents were William Armes, Sr. and Barbara Bear of Botetourt County, Virginia. His maternal grandparents were Samuel S. Sands and Cinderella Jane Cunningham of Grayson County, Kentucky. Dr. Samuel Armes was born in 1868 in Kentucky. His doctor father educated him and his brothers George and Ambrose to be doctors. Samuel was the husband of Laura Ann (?) Armes. She died on August 25, 1934 and was buried in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky. The dates on his stone show 1868-1936. Samuel joined her there after his death at the age of 68 on November 8, 1936 in Jefferson County, Kentucky.
