Robert Lee Armentrout, 28, of Electra, Tex., formerly of Walkerton, died Tuesday in his home after being shot once in his chest. Police officials in Electra said Armentrout was shot once In the chest with a 12-gauge shotgun in the living room of the home. Armentrout's wife, Doris, was taken in Tuesday night by Electra police for questioning and was released Wednesday, police said. The case still is under investigation, and no charges have been filed in the case.
Services in Walkerton will take place at a later date. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Arrangements are being handled by A.M. Manuel Funeral Home, North Liberty.
Armentrout, a 1980 graduate of John Glenn High School, was an employee of the oil industry in Texas. Born Nov. 28, 1960, in South Bend, he had lived in Texas since 1980, coming from Walkerton.
His wife, Doris Dunsmore, survives, along with a sister, Vickie Armentrout of Lakeville; two brothers, David Armentrout of Waterford, Pa., and James Lauderback of LaPorte; his mother, Judith Armentrout of Walkerton; his father, Earl David Armentrout of South Bend; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hobert Hensley of Walkerton; and a maternal great-grandmother, Naomi Abraham of South Bend.
A brother, Jeffery, died in July 1987.
