Edward Daniel Armbruster, 92, born Feb. 13, 1920, in KCK, died June 22, 2012, in Lincoln, CA.

Burial was June 28 in Saratoga, CA, next to his brothers, Elmer and Dr. Albert Armbruster.

Three brothers, all buried next to each other:
Elmer Milton Armbruster 1915 - 2004
Dr. Albert Arthur Armbruster 1917 - 2005
Edward Daniel Armbruster 1920 - 2012

Celebration of life was June 30 at Lincoln Hills Community Church in Lincoln, CA. Ed graduated from Wyandotte High School in KCK in 1938. He attended the University of Iowa and was a member of the Iowa Hawkeye swim team. He was drafted and assigned to the Air Corp at Kingman Army Air Field in AZ and was honorably discharged. He completed his education at the University of Iowa in 1946.

Ed met Roma Shereta Willcoxon, who made his life complete with marriage on May 28, 1949. They created an ever-growing family, which now includes a great-grandson born October 2011. His pride in his family was immeasurable. He was a stock broker while raising two sons and a daughter in Overland Park, KS. Ed, his brother Al, and several others were instrumental in the development of what was then Shawnee Mission Hospital in Merriam, KS. His deep belief in the hospital's mission led him, on occasion, to provide financial support while the hospital struggled to pay bills in the beginning. Shawnee Mission Medical Center has grown to offer excellent care for many in nearby communities and all the Armbruster family is proud to have been a part of the early years.

Edward Daniel Armbruster is survived by his wife, Roma, sons Rick and Steve, daughter Beth Schneidewind, and their families. He had six grandchildren and one great- grandchild, as well as eight nieces and nephews and many grand-nieces and nephews.

There are three friends who were like brothers to him: Francis Heydt (deceased), Robert Earp and Robert Woolford. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him to be honest and trustworthy.

Donations can be made in memory of Ed to Shawnee Mission Medical Center, 9100 W. 74th St., Merriam, KS 66204; City Union Mission, 1100 E. 11th St., KCMO 64106; or Lincoln Hills Community Church, 950 E. Joiner Pkwy., Lincoln, CA 95648.
