Alice was the daughter of David and Mary Berlekamp Hummel, born in Center Township. She married John C. Aring on 27 June 1917 in Wood County. Alice died from influenza and pneumonia at age 31 in Freedom Township. She left three children: Winifred, Kenneth, and Joanna.
