Visitation for Arthur "Gordo" Arias will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Monday, July 16, 2007 from 5:00-8:30 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Tuesday morning, July 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Arthur will be carried to his final resting place by Benny Juarez, Frank Diaz, Steve Espinoza, Pedro Santana, Lorenzo Santana and Jose Orong. Honorary pallbearer will be Manuel San Miguel. Arthur was born January 2, 1949 and he passed away July 11, 2007 in Bakersfield, California. Arthur was the 8th of 12 children born to Cornelio and Petra Arias. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cornelio and Petra; sisters, Mary (Chavela) Alvarado and Josephine Arias; brothers, Louie (Jr.), Robert and Antonio Arias. He is survived by his sisters and their spouses, Dolores and Benny Juarez, Margaret and Leandro Cabrera and sister, Lupe Miranda; brothers and their spouses, Mike and Rachel Arias, John and Babe Arias, Henry and Cheryl Arias; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Arias, Jesusita Arias, Gisela Arias; brother-in-law, Ralph Alvarado and a very special niece and care giver, Rosemary Espinoza. Arthur was employed by the State of California with the Dept. of Motor Vehicles for 20 years before poor health forced an early retirement. Arthur was a very kind and gentle person. Arthur had a special kind of relationship with each and every one of his relatives and was well taken care of by all who knew him. He loved his Marachi music and loved to dance. He loved his Friday nights at the "Eagles" where even in a wheelchair he could be found on the dance floor.
