Alma Hooke Arey, 83, Oak Lea Nursing Home, Harrisonburg, and formerly of the Mill Creek area, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at Oak Lea, where she had lived for the past 6 1/2 years.
Mrs. Arey was born Oct. 12, 1915, in Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late Grover Scott and Anna Marie Coffman Hooke.
She was a retired secretary employed by McCroy's Department Store and a member of the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren.
On July 19, 1943, she married Cecil Huffman Arey, who died Oct. 11, 1986. She is survived by two sisters, Wilma Trobaugh, Route 1, McGaheysville, and Thelma Stickley, Grottoes.
The Revs. Thomas W. Geiman and Douglas L. Graham will conduct a graveside service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Port Republic.
The casket will not be open.
Friends may call at the home of Wilma Trobaugh or Thelma Stickley.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Shenandoah Valley Chapter, 284 E. Water St., Harrisonburg, Va. 22801-4034.
