Erma A. Topper, 51, the wife of Bradley J. Topper, of 481 Pine Grove Road, Hanover, died Sunday evening at the Hanover General Hospital, having being admitted a short time earlier, after suffering a lengthy illness.
She was born in Adams County, the daughter of Ivan and Beatrice Sterner Arentz of Hanover, and was a graduate of Littlestown High School, Class of 1956. She worked for the Hanover Postal Service, where she was a carrier for 21 years. She was a member of Christ U.C.C. in Littlestown, the Women's Guild and Ladies Sunday School Class for 23 years. She was also a member of the National Rural Letters Carrier Assosiation.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by three daughters, Wendy S. Laughman of New Oxford; and Tammy J. and Kimberly A. Topper, both at home; six brothers, Clair E. Arentz, Vernon S. Arentz, Ivan E. Arentz, and Dale A. Arentz, all of Littlestown; and Leroy W. Arentz of Hanover; and Donald B. Arentz of Gettysburg; six sisters, Freda L. Bortner and Deborah A. Grove, both of Littlestown; Susan J. Gregg of Hanover; Mary Jane Small of Westminster, Md.; Ethel L. Abbott of Knoxville, Tenn.; and Beatrice D. Wallen of LaFollette Tenn.; two grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and a maternal grandmother, Ethel Sterner of Hanover.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Christ U.C.C. of Littlestown, where the body will lie in state one hour before the service with the Rev. Frederick Diehl officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
