The son of Joseph & Rebecca Arendt [sic], he married Sarah Shultz in 1857 and fathered William (b. 08/??/59), John Francis (b. 01/??/61), Joseph (b. 03/??/66), Ellen (b. @1866), Sarah E. (b. 10/??/69), Albert Charles (b. 07/03/74), and Elizabeth (b. @1877. He stood 5' 11" tall and had light hair and blue eyes. Died of chronic nephritis Death certificate states he died in Gettysburg.

A Civil War veteran, he was drafted in Adams County October 16, 1862, mustered into federal service at Gettysburg November 5 as a private with Co. G, 165th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"), and honorably discharged with his company July 28, 1863, in Gettysburg.
