Clair E. Arentz, 79, died Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Golden living Center of Gettysburg. He was the husband of Dawn E. (Strevig) Arentz for 61 years. Born February 9, 1931, in Littlestown, he was the son of the late Ivan E. and Beatrice A. Sterner Arentz. Clair was a member of Christ United Church of Christ of Littlestown, life Member of Green Springs Rod and Gun of Hanover and a former board of director for Protection Mutual Insurance. Clair was a truck driver for McGeary Grain of Lancaster for over 30 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mona L. Herring of Littlestown, Barbara K. Woods of New Bloomfield, and Diane E. Gross of Littlestown; two sons, Clair J. Arentz and William R. Arentz, both of Littlestown; 12 grandchildren, Virgil J. Herring of Nashville Ten., Valerie J. Mannon of Murrieta, Calif., D. Rocky Herring of Hanover, Heather D. Mahan of LaFayette, Ga., James A. Woods of Grove City, Jaime E. Reese of Hanover, Beth A Widener of New Oxford, and Jessica Kuhns, Jason Arentz, Nathan H. Arentz, Jacob M. Arentz and Hannah K. Arentz, all of Littlestown; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Donald B. Arentz, Dale A. Arentz and Ivan E. Arentz Jr.; and five sisters, Ethel L. Abbott, Freda A. Bortner, Debbie Grove, Mary Jane Small and Beatrice Darlene Wallen. He was predeceased by two brothers, LeRoy Arentz and Vernon 'Butch' Arentz; and two sisters, Susan Gregg and Erma Topper. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ United Church of Christ, Littlestown, with Pastor Craig Arentz and Pastor Garry L. Sheaffer officiating. There will be a viewing Wednesday from 3 to 7 at the Church, 131 Christ Church Rd., Littlestown. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens of Gettysburg.
