Betty Arends, 96, of Kankakee, IL., formerly of Gilman, IL., died at 12:58 P.M.,
Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Miller Rehabilitation of Kankakee, IL. Her funeral
service will be 3:00 P.M. on Monday, May 20, 2013 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran
Church Gilman, IL with Pastor Pete Hinrich officiating. Burial will be in Gilman
Cemetery, Gilman. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Monday, May 20, 2013
at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Gilman. Memorials may be made to her Great
Grandchildren's education fund or donor's choice.

Betty was born on April 1, 1917 in Roberts, IL., to Harry & Anna (Seng) Schuler.
Her childhood was spent in Roberts. She graduated from Roberts High School.
Betty married Lawrence Arends on March 21, 1936 in Ash Grove, IL. He died on
June 28, 1996. Surviving children - John (Clarice) Arends of Bradley, IL., Royce
(Sandra) Arends of Bourbonnais, IL., Lou Ann Froelich of Orland Park, IL., and
Dawn Arends of Daphne, Alabama. Eight Grandchildren - Julie Clark, Jill Lustik,
Jamie Wiley, Jay Harmon, Michele Miller, Michael Arends, Dayna Mitchell and
Brent Froelich. Fifteen Great Grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her
parents, husband, son-in-law - Michael Froelich, two brothers - Raymond and
Eugene Schuler and sister-in-law - Esther Walder.

Betty was a member of the St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Gilman and of St. Paul
Women of the ELCA, Prayer & Faith Circle and Sewing Circle. She helped with the
Chicken Supper, sewed quilts for Lutheran World Relief, and made several banners
for the church. She was a homemaker, seamstress and cook for the Gilman High
School. Betty enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and
great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements by the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman.
