Arend John Arends, son of Arend J. and Frauke Arends, was born in Bunde, East Friesland, Germany, October 11, 1865, and died January 14, 1934 at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 3 days. When one year old he came with his parents to America, locating in Freeport, Ill., then came to Butler county, Iowa, where he lived until the year 1893. Then he moved to Hamilton county where his home has been ever since.

He was married November 27, 1889, to Annie Catherine Nabor [Naber], to which union eleven children were born. His wife and ten children survive him, the children being: Mrs. Nettie Klaver, George Arends, Mrs. Hattie Klaver, Art Arends, Wm. Arends, Jens Arends, Wyatt Arends, Percy Arends, Mrs. Lulu Van Langen and Calvin Arends: all living in the vicinity of Kamrar. He is also survived by two brothers, John A. Arends of Altadena, Calif., and Dick Arends of Hill City, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. (unreadable) Meinders of Applington, Iowa; an aunt, Mrs. John J. Koop; 16 grandchildren and many other relatives.
